Moon Travel Guides Book Signing and National Beach Day at Downtown Book & Sound 

Celebrate all 840 miles of the California coast from the golden beaches of Southern California to the rugged, windswept coves of the North Coast at Downtown Book & Sound’s National Beach Day event. Moon Travel Guides author Stuart Thornton will be signing copies of his Moon Coastal CaliforniaMoon California Road Trip, and Moon Monterey & Carmelguidebooks. There will also be live music by local musician Robert Rossi, a raffle to benefit the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, and a quiz on California beaches.

Insider’s Guide to Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur Talk at the Oakland Library

I will share his travel tips for visiting Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur in this photo heavy presentation and talk for the Oakland Library’s Spring Travel Series. Learn about the best ways to spend a day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and navigating Big Sur’s Highway 1 along with information about lesser known destinations such as the New Camaldoli Hermitage, Palo Corona Regional Park, and a hidden shipwreck on the Monterey coast.

“Traveling the California Coast: Old Favorites and New Finds” Talk at The Lab

Learn about Crescent City’s unexpected beer scene, how to experience the landscape of early 1900s coastal California without a time machine, and what may be the state’s coolest tiny community in a presentation by travel author Stuart Thornton.

I am beyond excited to be talking about the newly released Moon California Road Trip as part of a panel discussion titled “Roadtripping and Hidden Gems Along U.S. Highways” at the inaugural Bay Area Book Festival. Moderated by Jamie Jensen (Road Trip USA), the event includes Moon writers Jason Ferguson (Moon Florida Road Trip), Allison Williams (Moon Pacific Northwest Road Trip) and I talking about road trips and what we have discovered on the open road.
